Unhappy 2001 Ram Outside Temp. sensor

I have a 01 Ram 3500. The overhead temp reads -40. I did the internal dianogstics and it reads pass. So my guess is the external sensor. My question is, where the hell is it - exactly. I've heard a in the grille, the radiator support etc. Any help would be appreciated.

It should be behind the grille, to the right of the radiator, and to the left of the headlight. There shouldn't be anything else nearby that it can be mistaken with. Hopefully someone with an 01 can confirm this.

NO! Dodge changed the location in 1998 I belive. Anyway.. When you open your hood, look up and it will be right above your head. The wire runs from the under hood light. Cant miss it.

Okay, I went to the dealer to get one and it was wrong. They say by the bumper. The plug is clearly under the hood. The sensors are not the same. Does anyone have a part number? The dealer cannot seem to get the right one. Mine is an 02 2500.

Nice job on the thread search. Here's one listed on ebay that looks like the one in mounted to the hood in my 2001 2500. The listing says it fit's the 02 as well. Dodge part number 4688204.

So does anyone have the proper part number for the ambient temp sensor? I can't seem to find it anywhere.

9This is the ambient temp sensor for an 02 2500. Standard Motor Products # TX49 Located on the inside front of the hood. If that's not it, then you are either looking at the wrong sensor or dodge changed to an 03 setup that I don't see listed anywhere.
