Default Dual piston caliper

Ok I have done some searching and haven't turned up anything. I am wondering if I can put dual piston calipers off a newer 1500 (like a 2001 or so) on my 1996 1500 4x4. I did the rear cylinder upgrade already now I want to toss bigger brakes on the front.

I believe this was covered in a previous thread, but no, you can't. The mounts on the calipers are in different locations. You'd have to change the knuckles as well.

there was a thread not to long ago were someone said it wasnt possible and the spindles are different, but what you can do is upgrade from the 1500 to the 2500 brake calipers and that makes quite a bit of a difference, I upgraded to the 2500 brake calipers and got some autozone ceramic pads and what a world of difference it made.

Hm great, not what I wanted to hear lol. Guess I will try going to slotted rotors and better pads. Any other ideas for better stopping? The rear cylinder upgrade helped and made me feel safer but still needs more.

I think he was looking for a direct bolt on. BTW, what you said is essentially what I said, just in a round-about way.

Yea I started typeing before yours showed up and the swap to the 2500 calipers is a direct bolt on, plus pads

are the 2500 calipers really that different? i'm just saying, what makes them so different that they are that good. lets just say that a hydraulically controlled component is really only as good as whats behind it making it work.

well the piston is bigger and the pads are bigger, I had just changed my calipers less than a month before I changed to the 2500 calipers my brother did it to his chevy and worked good so I decided to do it to mine and have been happy with the decision, makes more of a difference when I have stuff in the bed

Can you give the parts number. Also the Year, make and model? I've been looking around and I can only find single piston calipers.
