Default Rattling from breather!??! Help PLease!!!

Hey guys, I have a 1997 Dodge Ram 1500 5.2L V8 I'm getting a strange rattle the past day or two. I just pinpointed it today as coming from what appears to be a breather valved on the passenger side of the valve cover that runs into the intake manifold. I could feel the vibration from the rattle in the hose, I couldn't feel it in the valve cover so I'm hoping it's not a valve issue. I took a picture and circled the hose and have the sound of the rattle in the background, any help would be more than great, thanks guys!!!

That looks like your PCV valve, and it could have some sludge in it. They are about $1.50 to replace. Try that first.

thanks, is it alright to drive it with that noise? Didnt' know if u heard the sound. If I pull the hose and the rattling stops would that pretty much point to the pcv? (hypothetically, I'm going to try it in about 5 minutes)

Yup, It sounds like the little metal piece in there has worn out and its just shakin up and down really fast. When you take it out, your truck will stumble a little, because its a big vacuum line.

Strange too, because on my 2001 dodge, the PCV valve is on the drivers side, and yours i can tell is not ( because of the transmission dipstick)

yea, haha i noticed that when I was looking at other install manuals online for a pcv... Could this be anywhere related to a surge of power around 70? I have a problem where the rpms will jump about 200-300 rpm on the tach @ 70mph but it wont fall on its face, it will maintain speed... Only @ 70mph too, thats why i didn't think it was a slip any slower or any faster it's fine.

Drivers side has a hose that runs to what looks like the brake master cylinder.

UPDATE: Went out popped the hose off, viola... not only did the rattling stop, the idle seems to have gone back to normal after a slight hesitation.... To autozone it is!
