Umm you really don't want to pull the gears out unless you can put them back in the right way.

Do you mean the carrier?

Personally, I would not change the axle seals unless they are already leaking... they are too much of a PITA. And as far as the hub bearings go, fawk that. They are around $150+- each... thats too much to spend if they are not bad yet. Its an easy repair later once they get worn out.

And as far as changing the axle shafts joints, you don't need to pull the carrier. Thats nonsense. Just slide the shafts out, replace the joints, and re-install. Just be careful sliding them back through the axle seals

Exactly. They might last another 100k miles too, so why replace them?

To be honest, I have only replaced the drivers side hub bearing on my truck, the passenger side is original with 165k miles on it... and its still tight. I have took it off probably at least 5 times since it was new... that would be a lot of needless hub bearing replacements if I replaced it "cause I had it off".

yup shes got 197K, but the dealer did say they have been changedand it looks like it was not to long ago (ive owned it for 12K now)

and my driver side axle seal is leaking, but it takes like a month for it to go from full to 3/4, so its not that bad...but i do like off roading and go in deep mud pits...

Yeah, if the seal is leaking I would change it, especially if you go in deep water/mud regularly. If oil comes out the seal, water will go in

And if those bearings have most likely been changed in the recent past, which it sound like they have, I would definitely not change them out. Just keep an eye on them... they are easy to check. You might go several years or more on those yet.

there is no play in them. the tech at the dealership brought me into the garage and wiggled the tire while on the lift, and there is no play what so ever in each tire...they know i do my own work to it....but they said(and i knew) that i need sway bar end links, but ive heard of some that take out the sway bar for more flew when 4x4ing so im not worried about that.
