Hey guys. Im fairly new to the Ram. I used to run Dakota's. Got my first Ram about 9 months ago. Anyway, my truck has a 5" lift with 35" tires on it. Since they are already geared high with the auto the tires only made it worse. Im looking into putting different gears in the axles and i was looking for some input. Would I be better off with 3.90's or 4.10's? I want the truck to do well off-road and be able to pull better. Not looking for high speed or anything like that. Would be content with doing 80mph on the highway haha. Has anyone done this before? If so, how did you make out? Any and all input is greatly appreciated! Thanks for your time guys!!

 

with what you stated you should go with 4.56's

 

Why 4.56's? I dont think I want to go quite that low...

 

4.56's will help get the tires rolling with less effort from the engine and trans. especially with 35's.

 

you def either want 4.56 or 4.88 ..... thats the gears you would want to use to keep your truck back to stock power ( if you had origional tires ). you'll get your low end power back and also better gas mileage. personally i would go with 4.56 for 35's only because i also have a 5.5 inch lift and 35's and i have room for 37's and thats what im putting under her this summer and 4.88 is good for 37's

 

im running 4.10 gears with 265/75/16 tires, and its a perfect combo, going 2in higher it wouldbe sluggish IMO

 

4.56 will put your truck to about stock, but if you want more low end grunt you might want to go to 4.88
