mines a 1997 4x4 slt laramie its got it.mybe your tail gate was replaced

 

dodgeboy7's 97 had the 4x4 emblem until he removed it. If possible, pull your original window sticker and see if it says 4x4 emblem delete or something. I know my buddy's 92 ford says it right on the window sticker that it was deleted on the bed sides. If it doesn't say something like that, then I want to say what others have suggested that your was probably replaced. Infact... what is the story behind the deep drop bumper? I wonder if you were rearended (I don't want to know ) and thats why you have the deep drop, and maybe the tailgate was damaged so it was swaped with a red one from a 2wd. possible? This is the first I've heard of a 4x4 not being labeled unless someone debadged it.

 

I know it's not a replaced gate. I do have the build sheet laying around, so I'll look at it real quick. Good idea fixer.

my 99 sport has it.............since were on the subject...i had planned on painting my truck this summer/fall. i am obviously gonna strip the vinyl decals off and sand truck down....where on gods earth online can i buy those OEM emblems new? i want the exact same vinyl emblems...not the plastic glue on ones......and i cannot find a site to save my life

 

Are you talking about emblems or decals? Emblems are made of plastic and are 3D. Decals are made of vinyl. A local sign shop can make you new decals.

Well. I didn't realize I was so alone without my 4x4 badge lol.

To the best -of my knowledge, my trucks never been in an accident, and is the original body/tailgate.

I looked on my build sheet and it says
KA8A STRIPE/BADGE/MOLDING/DELETE
K17P STRIPE/BADGE/MOLDING

Wonder if that has anything to do with it?

 

My '99 1500 ST has it.

 

I can't really see the build sheet referring to the 4X4 on the tailgate. It seems like that is a (relatively) standard decal for the 4X4s, like the dodge decal on the opposite side. If anything, like fixer said, it is referring to the optional decals on the bed sides. I know that I see more trucks without this decal than with it. Mine has the 4X4 MAGNUM decal on my box sides. Rideordie, I don't see the bedside decals on your truck, I'm thinking that is what your build sheet is referring to.

Or I could be completely wrong, just throwin my thoughts out there
