I'm gonna have to get pics of my 30" coachmen hooked up, I don't worry about brakes but all my trailers are equipped with brakes. There is more than enough power in that 5.9 to haul till your hearts content Hell I hauled a car trailer and an old 85 ford 4x4 with 6.9 diesel across the state of ohio with 5.0 in a f150 and many other things too numerous to mention. Plus you got the gears to back up the engine I talked to a guy that hauls his 33' TT through the jelico mountains every year with his 5.2 dodge ram according to him it just trots up and down them hills no problems

What is the limit that a 1500 can tow because I do be hauling a 14' 6'6 cattle trailer an and my gross weight is between 16500 and 17000 ibs. The truck and transmission is stock with 7000 miles on a remanufactured tranny from Phoneix transmissions. There is 99000 miles on the truck and the tranny was gone out on it when I bought it. I rebuilt the tranny but with no luck other than reverse working good (it just slipped in all the forward speeds) and it had been rebuilt at least 2 times before I got it.

A fifth wheel hitch is required for trailers weighing more than 10,000 lbs.

I Have a 1998 1500 with a 5.2 3.55 axle ratio 265/75/16's and overload springs and i pull a 22 ft camper twice every year and i continually pull a 7x12x2 hydrolic dump trailer loaded with tractors skidloaders wood dirt and ocassionally stone wieghing up to about 16,000 pounds... yes i kno it is over the weight limit but its a truck... it has 125,000 miles with original engine and trans and still pulls it fine up hills and everything. and the trailer does have brakes. haha

Just got back from a trip upnorth in MI towed an enclosed trailer with 2 snowmobiles and one in the bed. You couldnt tell the thing was behind ya. 2 years ago we took the same set up upnorth with my buddies 97 f150 and wow did that tow terrible. not bashing ford but it just shocked me how tough it was to to with that as to my truck

My truck handles my 7,000 pound, 25 foot camper pretty well. Brakes work great, but I need to get a SCT tuner to give me some more power.

But I dont have a jungle jim lift and tires the size of my S-10....

i pulled a 7x12 aluminum traler loaded down to the brim with furniture..it was loaded so bad that the doors would barely shut

not to mention the bed (8 ft) had two couches and a couble shelfs in it

the only problem i had was a little bit of tug of war with the trailer when hitting bumps but that was cause of the ball wasnt meant for the trailer..

and all i have is a shift kit, 318 with 3.55 gears and 265/75/16 's

i think you shouldnt have any problems, just take it easy dont try and be a hot rod..and give yourself enough time to stop and youll do fine

and of course like always when towing keep your eyes open and keep an eye on your gauges.

you should have no problem
