Gearing is another option.

Ok ... you mean rear end ? if i geared for more power i would loose speed right ..... i don't want to loose more speed because right now she only goes about 160 Km/h tops ....thats probably downhill. The tranny shift continuously going uphill , even with overdrive off very annoying .

a set up I've been looking at: rebuilt bottom end 30 over. clearwater cylinder heads eq $375 each. HS 1.6 rollers, comp cams 206 from krc about $395, fastman 52 mm throttle body, kegger mod, get into some exhaust work and a round air cleaner and that's got to be good for more than 100 hp. you could substitute the basic bottom end rebuild for a 408 stroker kit but for me I think the cost and gremlins wouldn't be worth it but it makes for some fun research. there are so many ways you could go.

first off, nice truck. id change you gears for bigger tires, here is a chart, (http://www.4lo.com/calc/geartable.htm)you can gear for more MPG, stock ratio, or more power, if you go for more power you will lose MPG, and if you plan on going with bigger tires in the future id go bigger, you might need to check with others but if i remember right you can only go up to 4.10 with 9.25" axles, correct me in im wrong anyone im not positive. second you can get the superchips tuner and change your speed limiter to 140MPH(225KMH), i think its limited to 110MPH or 115MPH from the factory. the superchip also can change you rev limited between stock 5280RPM to 5760RPM or something like that which may help your shift points going uphill. i wouldnt really hope to get much more than 10-13MPG though, youve got a lifted truck with oversize tires and you want to pump out 100HP over stock which for a 5.9L is 240HP

I would have a local machine shop do the bottom end and ask if you could be present or help 'cause you wanna learn.. or get a rebuilt short block even cheaper. the rest you can trial and error through. get some experienced help with the cam install if possible.

Most annoying is the tranny continuously shifting , and i mean constantly going up a mountain road. How the hell can i fix that problem ... i thought more power might do it. My old motor has beeen through hell but it still works well, has never let me down in 10 years, i even boiled the coolant out of it so the motor stopped running trying to go through too much snow ...went back the next day and filled up with coolant and she started right up, as long as i keep oil in it i don't think it can be killed.

the excess shifting is probably caused by stock gearing with 33 inch mudders

my truck on 265/75/r16 tires (i measured them at just over 31) downshifts up steep grades when i dip below about 45 mph (and yes, we do have different motors but the power rating is close enough it wouldn't really make a difference)
