burning oil HELP
ok so i did something stupid my last like 4 or 5 oil changes i thought that i was grabbing the 5 qt oil buckets at the store but really i had been grabbing the 4 qt buckets (i change company trucks that take 4 qts alot so without thinking which wasstupid when i would go in to get my oil i grabbed the wrong oneso i was runninga qt low everytime) and now i am burning oil whiledriving pretty fast now and i dont knowwhatthe problem could be. i have been told maybe a blown head gasket or piston ring, when i punch the gas i shoot whitesmoke, i dont leak oil when the truck is off or sitting andrunning so i washoping someone might know what i did andif i need to have a rebuilt engine dropped in for $1,500 (that includes the new rebuilt engine and labor) or if there is a cheaper route.
White smoke is a blown head gasket and burning antifreeze. If you had a problem with the piston rings you would blow blue smoke. Sounds like possibly the valve guides are worn out or look down your throttle body into the plenum and see if there's oil in there. How much oil you burning??
lol yeah i know i should have checked it like i said it was my stupid mistake that now im having to pay for but im burning pretty much all 5 qts with in 400-700 miles depending if its hot or cold outside

Do a compression test or leak down test on the cylinders to find out if your piston rings are good
