That part is good to know. I just can't figure out the overheating problem and the starting problem. I guess I can spend another $100 and get a Crankshaft Position Sensor as that can sometimes be the problem. The radiator cap is cheap but I can't imagine that is causing it to overheat but maybe.

Water pump, thermostat, all hoses everything is new on the cooling system except the radiator but I hate to replace that for nothing.

Are you using the 1500 Rad? I'm not sure if there's a difference in the 318 & 360 Rad but it's worth looking into at least

Very nice buildup man. I don't know what I like better... the way you are executing the buildup, or the fact that it is in memory of your dad. Both are very cool! Good luck working out all the little issues, and don't forget to post up pics!!!

Oh yeah, and the color of your truck... very unique. I like!

Thanks the paint would be a lot better except previous owner had a horrible repaint done so I got paint chipping off and runs everywhere. I will get a repaint one day I like the Med Bronze Pearl but not sure if I would repaint it that color.

I would love to do Hairy Hauler Red but that is a custom color and I imagine would be a nice chunk of $$$$$$$$$

It has been fun, working the kinks out gets annoying because I have been working on it for a month straight but I would be willing to bet I am getting close to getting it all together............note to anyone else leave plenty of room in the budget for Gremlins!!!!

Well, since your coolant temp sensor isnt plugged in, the PCM doesnt know what the coolant temperature and can only "guess" the engine's temp using the MAP and IAT sensor. Since it doesnt know, it is probably running the motor lean and overheating the motor. What you need to do is plug the sensor back in and drill and tap a new hole for your aftermarket temp sensor, or put it in a different place. Same goes for your oil psi sending unit.

That is my confusion. Is it running lean because of a gauge or is running lean because it is a 318 computer trying to run a 360?

I went last night and bought a new radiator brought it home took my old one out and it seemed fine coolant ran through it fine well turns out the new one I bought was damaged during shipping so I brought it back and the guy behind the counter agreed probably overheating because it is running lean.

So I guess this weekend I will be putting the factory sensors back in and drilling and tapping 2 more holes for the aftermarket gauges. Also think I am gonna "try" a 360 computer for an auto trans and see what happens if that doesn't do any good I will send the 360 computer off to B&G for a tune.

What size hole do I need to drill in order to tap a 27NPT?

If it's running that lean I wouldn't run it too much.

Yeah I really haven't run it much at all I have driven it less than mile most of the time it has just been idling in the driveway and not for more than 5-10 minutes.

Don't plan on running it again until I get the above mentioned items taken care of.\

Does the PCM have to be out of a 2001?

I may be in trouble. I have been waffling at the 285's thinking man I want 35's. I had my 285's but I just bought my rims........................then today I got the inside track on some factory offroad rims (the only factory rim I like) for $150.

I am going to pick them up even if it just to have as a back-up because I like them but man I wouldn't mind throwing some 35's on those an going
