Strange electrical problem

Default Strange electrical problem

i have a 1999 dodge ram i was driving it and all the dash lights started beeping and blinking and the gages dont work they go up and down every 2 sec ive been reserching this and know one seems to know the alt fuse blew so i replaced that and the alt next is the reg but if someone knows somthing that can help me that would be awsome

ya it beeps like the doors open but when i replaced the alt it wont stay running whin i take the bat cables of you thing the reg on the alt went bad?

The beeping may be tied to the check gauges light ..... Is it on?

no the air bag light flashes no check eng light but the rpm goes to 1000 and drops down and back up the gas gage does the same and so does the voltige and the dome lights wont turn on when i push the e brake i get a half a tank of gas when i relese it it just goes to a 1/8 dropes to zero and back up and down every two secs

Check for a loose ground. I had a faulty neg bat cable that was causing very similar issues. Same thing on my Saturn. Driving down the road and it would lose all dash indication and then come back on (and beep at me) and was fine for several miles or days and then do it again.

changed ground still got prob what about the regulator that sits on alt ony one have prob with theres

replace the alternator, that regulator should come with a new one

and since when you tke off the battery cables and it shuts off, thats a clear sign of bad alternator

any one know where i can get a diagram for the alt the book says one thing the auto part store says somthing else trying to do it right thanks for all the help

i fixed alt but gages still act up but trucksrun and drives could it just be the gage cluster
