I got a 1998 dodge ram 1500 slt 5.9 360, My engine is about to go and I got to looking and I can buy a used diesel motor for 1500? he said its for a 1998 260 K he dint specifie size I dont know if there where diff engine packages but would it even hook up? or is a diesel engine wiring harness totally diff? Thanks

Has a scored cylinder and collapsed valve 250 000kms. I was told that to fix the motor would take many many hours be better to replace the the dam thing the motor im looking at here has 290 000kms on it but its in apparently in good running order..... here is the email I got

I still have motor and trany these are the numbers off the trany 067-2 and 09104-19104 if that helps you i took it out of a 1998 dodge durango 4x4

You'd have to swap EVERYTHING out. Axels, suspension, tranny, computer, engine mounts, instrument panel etc...

It'd be a whole lot easier and cheaper to drop a gasser in it.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think any Durango came with a diesel.
It's just me, but I think this guy selling you the engine is either dumb or trying to trick you.

But yes, you would have to switch everything over.

The dorango is Gas But Im a little weary of putting a 290 000km engine in.............
how many km or Miles u think a 5.9 will run for????????

A 5.9 gas could last a little while longer, depending on how it was treated. Definitely not worth $1500 though.-> 290,000km = 180,000miles
But, 5.9 diesel won't be quite so easy to kill..

Right now, I say keep searching.
