I had my Performance Accessories BL installed because I was traveling on business and never had time to get to it, so I paid to have it done while I was gone because I was tired of it just setting in my garage and I was needing to put my 35's on. The shop I took it too is owned by two guys I used to work with, so I know them well and trust them. It is a 4x4 specialty shop too (no, not 4 wheel parts either). They do bl's on Jeeps and Yotas all the time, and do lots of full size trucks. So they know what they are doing. They told me it took them 8 hours with 2 guys working on it most of that time. This is a shop that does this for a living, and with full access to lifts and tools to do it. I totally trust the guys who work there and I know the owners personally, and know they weren't lieing when they said that's what time it took. I know it was done right too.

Default Body Lift

Alright....now I believe in doing all the work on my truck myself but this 3" Body Lift was a huge PITA! Maybe on a newer truck but on my old girl with the Canadian winters and salted roads.....it made everything come out hard. You will need a welder to change the length of the transmission and transfer case linkage....and the steering shaft extension was a huge pain as the adapter got cross threaded very easily and took for ever to remove, drill and retap. If I had to do it all again I would have brought it to my 4WD guy and paid up like a sucker.....But in the big Picture .....well worth all the longs nights and swearing . Happy Trails!!

I was considering putting a 3 inch body lift on my truck this summer, so i take it that you have to custom make something for the trans and transfer case linkage? How hard is it to make, and what do you use? I'd like to do everything myself so was there any other issues i should know about before i start this.

Couple other issues I had, non difficlut to overcome though:

-You have to relocate the exhaust (or at a minimum the tailpipe), or else it looks kinda funny when you raise the body 3 inches up above it.

-I had to extend the main ground wires that come off the back of the engine and connect to the firewall. They were stretched so tight, it was like guitar strings.

-If you have a receiver hitch, it can look kinda funny after you move the bumper up away from it by 3". Others leave the bumper alone, which I think looks even more retarded.

-The axle vent coming off the front axle that connects to the inside of the passenger fender may or may not still fit in the clip that is on the fender. Mine just barely fits, but I plan to relocate it so it works better.

That's all I can think of right now.

You will need a welder or someone with a welder . You have to cut the transfer-case linkage and insert and weld the rod that comes with the kit. ( IF you buy a good kit it will be in there ) if your truck is automatic you will have to cut and weld another extension in the shift linkage. Really you need 2 people while you are lifting it with the jack...one to operate the jack and the other to look for any wires , hoses , Brake-lines , vacuum hoses that may be too short. I moved my bumper up the 3" and yes it looks a bit funny with the exhaust a little low and my receiver.....my solution is going to be to build a bumper for the rear as the stock one is heavy and rusty. I will post some before and after pics if i can get it to work .
