Cool Too Much Play In Stering

Hello All,
Do I have a big problem?
Had new Michelins put on 1998 Ram SLT Quad Cab V8 with 102,000 miles and mechanic said ball joints were bad so they were replaced. Driving down the road I felt dangerously loose play in the stering, so I called Dodge Dealer for appointment tomorrow to fix the problem. The stering was perfect before work was done and am affraid to bring truck back to place for more work.
I would appreciate any and all suggestions as to what went wrong and how much will it cost to fix. I love the truck and have had it 8 years.
Thanks very much in advance. This forum is absolutely the BEST!
Wishing the best to all,
KJK

Could be the gear box going out, or track bar is loose, mine does the same damn thing, it's $160.00 fix at napa, take about 20 min to do with a decent set of tools.

Why did changing ball joints created this problem? Thanks, KJK

Sure I will post about what happens.
I'm just trying to prepare, hoping it's not something disasterous. KJK

If the steering was perfect before new tires and ball joints. It should have been even better after the new tires and parts. They messed your truck up. Please keep us updated, and post that shop on the Hall of Shame thread.

Wow halfamil hope it wasn't intentional. A woman runs the shop and seems honest but I certainly could be wrong.
