Intermittent Stalling/Surging Issues
lol i like this one
well, a cheaper fix, the one im doing, is the hughes plenum plate which runs bout $140. im buyin a used intake from a guy on here and doin my own mod to the stock intake, installing the plenum and gonna swap out the whole assembly in one shot. should only run bout $230 total. maybe have the wife do the labor for ya...... even out the universe... haha
It did @ one point after I made a long trip I changed the PCV and a couple things and for some reason it seemed to have stopped that?
aftermarket is a great solution. im just going the poor mans route. i'm bout 99% sure that most aftermarket intakes for our trucks don't use the plenum setup. so that would dif. fix that. and halfamil had a great symptom, the oil consumption is from the intake sucking in the oil from the leaking plenum gasket and burning it. i guess Dodge just wanted to make two-strokes........

I was dreading that this would turn out to sound EXACTLY like my problem. Lately I have noticed that when at 55-70mph, any uphill will require a downshift to keep that speed. And as for the hissing/whirring, I have changed EVERY vacuum line in and out. Still does it. Today I went out to start my truck... It started and died instantly, then after using a little bit of throttle to keep the rpm's up, it idled fine. But I noticed that if I revved it or gave it gas while driving and let off, it would want to die and then struggle to recover itself. I hope this won't end up costing me $300 bucks but I could lose more if I can't make it to the job site. Any Ideas? Maybe something cheaper? IAC? TPS? P.O.S.?

as for the TPS, i can't find the post, but one of the guys on here gave a great troubleshooting tip, start the truck and while at a idle, pull the plug on the TPS. if it starts to idle rough and if you hit the throttle and it dies when you let off, the your TPS is working right. if you pull the plug and it runs the same, then the sensor is bad. BTW, you'll prolly get the CEL when you pull the plug

that kinda sounds like the IAC, but that you can pull out and clean up sometimes. mine was all fouled up but a little sand cloth and carb cleaner and it worked like new. just be careful to not damage the slide. and install carefully to make sure the o-ring goes back in properly

Also- I pulled the TB and cleaned it. Noticed there is ALOT of oil residue in the intake. PLENUM DAMN YOU!
well I actually have the same issue so perhaps we can share info on the subject if one of us can throw enough money to figure out the problem.
i've fixed the plenum, new iac, new pcv, new tps, new air charge temp sensor, and checked all vacuum lines.
I know that for some reason its temperature related as it only does it if its warmed up. and I also know that my truck will run with the iac plugged off but im unable to find any leaks.

Just the other day it started and died. I have to keep the idle up manually for a few minutes until it warms up and then it will keep running but the iudle is real low. Also when I accelerate and let of the gas it wants to die but then revives itself. I replaced the IAC and TPS but still doing it. I guess the plenum is next, unless there is something I may have missed. I know the plenum is bad due to the fact I had sprayed Carb cleaner in small bursts behind the a/c compressor and the idle jumped. But would the bad plenum alone cause it to not run at all when cold started?

Of course you do have a 95 so you should have the EGR hookup on the back of the intake manifold. Check the EGR tube for leaks.
That sounds exactly like when my ASD relay was bad. I changed the TPS and IAC before I found out about the ASD relay causing similar symptoms.
