Default Front end noise...

My truck makes a noise when I turn the wheel or hit a bump.It also does it if I push down on the front end.Its like a spring or metal rubbing sound.Like an old bed or something.Any ideas on what this is? Its been this way a while but it stills steers fine and its not loose or anything.

Make sure all your shock nuts are secure. Bottom shock mount is supposed to be torqued down to 100 foot pounds. That can cause a popping, rattling sound.

Could it be a noisy bushing that needs to be greased

+ 1 on the bottom shock bolts , had the same prob ,torqued with impact gun , and a few days later came loose again, on my truck i was able to lean over the tire and look down at the bottom of shock and move the truck up and down and see it was loose making the noise

does it sound like this - squeek squeek squeek.

on drivers side, under the truck, follow the auto trans shifter linkage down from the column to where the up/down motion changes to back/forth motion on a Z rod. on the end of the Z rod are nylon bushings that wear out. you can replace them or just grease up up in wheel bearing grease (what i did).

i helps to have an assistant pushing on the truck while you crawl under it to follow the noise.

Torque the hell out of the lower shock absorber bolts. When they are lose they rattle/bang/squeak, etc.. See if that helps. I made new sleaves and bushings for my shocks because every MFG makes them too small to fit properly.

If not, pull the shocks and take it for a drive. If the noise goes away, that's the culprit.
