Stock foglight wiring harness and mounting options ?
Just curious if any one knows if all of the wiring harnesses are the same, since my truck didnt come with stock foglights, although it does have the cutouts on the bumper for them. Im wondering if the wiring harness is factory built for them if i can find the connections and also shouldnt the connections for the switch be inside the dash some where, i looked in my fuse box it has the sockets for the fuse for them, just no fuse in it.
On a different note, iv seen a few guys on here have KC lights or fog lights on the bumper behind the grill and i was wondering if any one has pictures of how the wires are ran and opinions on what type of lights and what you guys think of how they look.

Just build your own harness. No sense in screwing with the thin factory wires.
And yes, factory fog lights will fit in your truck. My truck didnt come from Saltillo with fog lights. I just swapped in the bezels, painted them orange, and mounted them in. I got it all at a junkyard for $30. Also, get fog lights from a 99-01 truck, they look much better.

will the switch from a fog light equipped truck fit on a non fog light harness? i have the same problem and i hate toggle switches, i would like to keep it stock as possible by using the factory harness too, theres a relay in my under hood fuse box, i have no problem running a wire from that down but i really dont want any more coming from my fire wall i have have enuff of those already
Why in the world would you use 10awg for fog lights? They pull what, 35 watts each? That's 5 amps at 13.5 volts. You could use a 14 awg wire and be just dandy. High quality wire wont be found at Radio Shack by the way. That's all made in China. Get some high strand count Stinger wire or the like.

Because 10awg is ****ing huge. The OD of 10awg is .102, where as the OD of 14awg is .064, nearly HALF the size. Thicker wire won't allow you to upgrade to 55 watts. You don't need thicker wire. A pair of 55 watt bulbs still will only pull 8.14 amps@13.5v. 14awg will support up to 17A, enclosed. Heck, a pair of 55 watt lights could be run on a single piece of 18awg, which will support 10A enclosed.
I've never understood why people go for the overkill awards with wiring. Read a Ampacity chart. Save yourself and your wallet the trouble of running obscenely large wire, that is doing the exact same job that a wire far smaller could safely accomplish.
Also, you want dim lights for fog lights, not the other way around. The only purpose of a fog lamp is to illuminate the edges of the road, and the immediate proximity in the foreground. They are not designed to provide light for driving. If you put brighter bulbs down there, you are better off driving with just your parkings lights on in a real world fog situation.
