clutch hydraulics
About a week ago, my truck started getting really hard to get into gear. Yesterday I drove out to the desert, and when I got there I found out it won't go into gear at all while the engine is running, if I'm not moving. I can start it in gear with the clutch in if I use a little gas, and it starts to creep forward. Once moving, I can shift without using the clutch. I just sucked out and replaced most of the fluid that was in there, it looks a lot better (280,000 miles on the same fluid doesn't look too good). But, same problem is occurring. Did the clutch hydraulics just finally give out? I put in the Southbend OFE clutch a few months ago, it's been great until this happened. Maybe the stiffer clutch helped the dying hydraulics finally give out?
Except I put in a brand new Southbend OFE a few months ago, including release bearing and new flywheel.
In the reservoir, or the cylinder itself? Reservoir was fine, just old fluid which I replaced. I even pushed in the slave cylinder rod to get out more fluid, then had my wife top it off while I had the rod in, and a bit of fluid pushed up into the reservoir. Did it a few times to try to get as much old fluid out.
I was going to do that, but every store I called only sold them separately. I'm about to go buy a new slave and see if that does the trick.
