ok, now i read it and it says it rated at 300 ftlbs... doesnt a stock 318 put out more then that already?

like i said, i just need a trans that wont completely kill me, but yet still be stong enough...

i noticed the nv4500 has the same bolt patern as the 95-05 gm vehicles...
anyone hear of a turbo 400 trans behind a 360?

You first need to figure out what your trying to gain before you do anything. If your goal is to make things very complicated for yourself, then do the above.

If you have a donor truck, the swap should be relatively straight forward. I'd go with the 4500 personally (especially since that's what I'll be going with when I do mine ).

Find a Ram 2500 with the 360 and a stick and you'll have everything you need for the swap. Might need to buy a new clutch though.

why wouldn you just buy a 5.9 2500 with a manual tranny already in it, with a blown engine or whatever and take the parts off your truck to fix that one. instead of trying to turn an automatic into a manual

bullit proof the tranny you have now, that would be a better option, not sure what you have done to it as far as rebuild, but i would take it somewhere and have it professionally redone with high performance parts. you will have less of a headache swapping to a manual or another trans like the 727. just my $.02

yea, if i could just bullit proof my 46re, i would love it... cause i love my shift points, and the auto part of it, i am kinda used to how this trans operates...

so like i said, i am gettin the one i have rebuilt, again, under warrentee and go from there... just so i can run it again, and hope its under warrentee next time too... lol

as of right now, i am going to be rebuilding the old 318 out of this truck, just to make the bit better then stock power and do the 5.38 gears, so ill have plenty of power to the ground... only thing im worried about, is me making around 320-350hp to 40" tires... how well will that work... lol see my point?

Yeah if you could find a 2500 that had a 360 5speed with a 4500 the bellhousing is differnt but the transmissions is the same size bolt pattern etc as the 3500 and will bolt right up to your 360 still have to do all the swap stuff. The 4500 they used in the diesel and V-10 has bigger shafts.

I actually found one here locally that was a 2500 with a NV4500 but he had sold the transmission to a chevy guy so he gave me the Bellhousing for it. Now all I have to do is find a dodge or chevy 4500 out of a gas motor and it will bolt right up. Speaking of which Chevy put a lot of 350's in there late 90's model 2500 and 3500 trucks so this transmission is acutally more common than you would think.

Just make sure the donor dodge is a GAS 360 2500
