How prone are 14x3's to water?
ok AZ has an edelbrock chrome air cleaner for just 35 bucks, i just need to get the bent piece of rod for it.
but my question is do they suck in water easy? i like my mudding, and i noticed i have mud on the top of my stock air cleaner from my mudding trip a couple days ago.
Im just worried that if im getting mud and such up there that the round air clener will suck in water...
any advice on this?

Do NOT go mudding with a 14x3. You WILL ruin the filter, and you might suck water into the intake. The first time I went mudding with my 14x3 the filter got so soaked that it choked the engine off. I had to drive home with no air filter. I went through 3 filters in the 4 months that I had my 14x3. 2 of them were soaked on the trails, and one was ruined when I hit a puddle just driving down a main road.
K&N makes a cover thingy that is made to slide over open element filters. I've been told it works pretty good, but I've never tried it myself.

Also I bought a 14x3 and also an aftermarket filter for it, so I just plan on throwing the paper one that came with the 14x3 in when I go hunting and there is a chance.
short story long just be careful
just use the k&n sock deal and a paper filter when you go mudding.
for the s bolt you can buy a piece of 1/4 20 threaded rod and cut it off with a dremel or hack saw and bend it with a vise or a couple pairs of channel locks.

i wouldn't use the stud. the point in the fastman throttle body is to remove any obstructions that can cause turbulence in airflow through the throttle body and that stud covers part of the throttle body bores. so it probably isn't as good as an s bolt.

I can confirm, water WILL get into the intake with a 14X3. I have a 14X3 and a while back, I went through some flood waters. I was even going that fast but enough water spashed around in the engine bay that some got sucked in and caused the engine to start stuttering and struggling. I pulled over, flipped it into nuetral and gave her a bunch of gas to burn out the water. It eventually cleared up and has run fine ever since.
I plan on ditching my 14X3 because I don't want to worry about it. Will probably get an Air Raid or go back to the stock box.
