If yours is like mine, it has indents for them but no actual holes there. Awesome, eh?

Exactly what it appears to be.

Glad I am not just dense. Anyone care to offer a remedy? Hammer and big screw driver did not help one bit

Drill a hole.

Take both rear wheels off and replace only one lug nut on each hub. Then start the truck up and act like your driving it. Never done it myself, though.

I tried that one time per aim's instructions. Only trouble for me was... the brakes didn't work that well (main reason for taking the drums off to begin with) and when i hit the brakes to stop them, I thought they had stopped but they didn't when I threw her in park. Trans made some interesting noises... ill leave it at that.

grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr kerchunk?

I accidentally threw a 1981 Buick Skylark in park at 30 mph. Interesting noises indeed. It was fine, though, amazingly enough.

Ya the drive it idea is out. No rear brakes. This started with a rusted out brake line I replaced then needed to bleed em and broke the right rear bleeder valve. So now I want to get to the wheel cylinders for replacement and guess the shoes are on the list also If I could get there.

Might be time for a BFH and a chisel and crowbar if you're replacing it all anyway.

Not wanting to replace quite that much as in the backing plate and drums.
