Just took it to 4wheelparts today and they said the ring and pinion couldnt look newer, thats what i thought after looking at it, they also thought the sound is coming from the transfer case i just had rebuilt. took it back to the tranny place i had rebuild it and another test drive they stand behind theyre rebuild 100% and might actualy have it figured out, they think its a harmonic imbalance with the driveline causing both noises in the pumpkin and Xfer case. >_< might just need to have a driveline built for the rear with a CV joint.

have you tried removing driveshaft and running the engine/trans/tcase at moderate speed. this would isolate the trans and t-case from the rest of the driveline to see if the noise stays or goes. if it stays, then the harmonics story is BS.

when did the noise start and did anything you've done influence it ?

are you running a posi traction unit? if you are and arent running 80 or 90 weight oil with that posi traction oil additive, it will shutter. i scared the **** out of myself after i regeared mine and didnt put the correct oil in the pumpkin. drained it and put a bottle of lucas in it and it was an immediate difference.

I was thinking the same as Mikey. Do you have a traction device in the rear?
