I would try a drop in K&N Air Filter and a tune up. Make sure all tire pressures are even. I hear thats the biggest help w/ that. And no more burn outs, lol Welcome to D. Forum.

The key to getting better gas mileage from a vehicle is to first do a walkaround it looking for obvious problems like low tire pressure or poor wheel alignment. If it says 'Dodge' anywhere on the vehicle...well, you're out of luck.

Default I get VERY good mileage... 22hwy/16city/14.5towing

I have a 1999 Ram1500 Sport, 5.9L, automatic, 2wd with 230K+ miles.

235/70/16 Firestone Dueler AS tires at 45psi
Gutted my catalytic converter after replacing it for the 4th time!
Raven (Midas) muffler and all else stock.

I have been getting better and better mileage this year after gutting the cat. I'm sure I'll be replacing it again, but for now I'm enjoying the great mileage. I drive 60-65mph on the Interstate and don't baby it much at all around town. I just finished a 1600mile trip towing a 1700 lb load on a single axle boat trailer and got 14.5mpg on the last 850miles of the trip.

DON'T use the cruise control if you want good mpg, I just keep my foot steady and let the truck slow down climbing hills and speed up going downhill.

I can get 12-13 around town and 15-16 highway if I just drive easy on it. If I drive aggressive I usually get 8-10 city and 12 highway.

It has a lot to due with the way you drive and if you dont have a lead foot.
