Why not diagnose the problem yourself?

repair estimates that don't require shop time should be free. short test drives and "lets put it up on the rack and see whats wrong" are free.

play in the steering can be caused by a number of problems including steering box, idler arm, linkage, tie rod ends, track bar, ball joints, steering shaft, and some of the pieces and parts on the steering shaft.. pretty much any moving part.

i removed about 2 or 3 or 4 inches of rotational play from my steering by tightening up the box. i got lucky and avoided buying a new box, at least for the past 3 years. mine was almost undriveable.

1. Steering box adjustment

Over here in Nor Cal, I pay $100 when I need it to get diagnosed. That is if it's something I can't figure out. It's about an hours shop time.

Thanks.
Made an appointment with a repair shop but do not feel comfortable bringing it to him, he said it sounds like a complex problem.
Quess I'll bring it back to dealer and have a list of issues you mention to check out.
