i don't think the door should flap.

if your door doesn't feel like it latches tight, try adjusting the strike pin in a little tighter. mark it before you move it so you can return it to the original location if need be.

I have the *EXACT* same issue with my truck. In strong winds, the door seems to move in and out along the hinge side. I wouldn't say that it "flaps"; it's more like a person's chest when breathing -- rise and fall.

I attributed it to the worn bushing on the hinge pin. Just a minor amount of movement there will yield a great amount of movement on the door as a whole. Does your driver's door yield a horrid screeching noise when opened/closed?

It can be latched and still do this. A worn or compressed door seal, worn or misaligned hinge, or a misaligned striker and latch plate could all cause this.

Yes, it is the leading edge of the door, which would be the angled part of the door, forward of the exterior rear view mirror.

I learned quickly not to rest my arm on the door armrest and the prop my fingers along where the door frame meets the A-pillar. One moment, I'm gingerly pinching the rubber seal, and the next moment, *MY FINGERS* are getting pinched!

Please report if you've been able to correct the problem, and what actions were taken.
