Default 2000 Taillight Question

I have a 2000 Ram 1500 Sport.
Usually I get all my answers from Google.
If you own a Black Sport is it same as Non-Sport?
Seems like only diff is price and the smoked backup light.
Tried the dealer and they only stock 1.
Was content with my assumptions until I started noticing "NOT COMPATIBLE".

Basically will a non-sport taillight FIT a sport body?

I'm guessing from your poorly worded question that you need a replacement taillight for your Sport truck. While there are many Sport-only items on these trucks that can not be replaced by non-Sport components, the taillights are not one of them. I suspect the reason you are seeing them listed as non-Sport is because the Sport taillights are color-matched to the body color and these replacements probably come in black only, much like the non-Sports. I purchased a set of LED taillights for my truck and simply painted them myself to match my truck. That's likely what you'll need to do or you could just leave them black. Welcome to DF.

Thanks, as I said my truck is BLACK and non-sport are black, I was hoping that the sellers were just incompetent morons as their CS indicated. In my opinion a black part on a non-black vehicle is NOT an incompatibility.
So I can cheap out and only diff will be one smoked/clear reverse light and one white/clear reverse light.
Nice truck and a good example of my point...
Black liner, black bumper step, black fender flares, black door handles, black mirrors.

What do they want for just the one taillight? I paid $135 for the pair and $7 for a can of plastic paint.

The only problem with lights for a sport are the headlights. As long as you get the year and type of truck right you cant go wrong.

antoher thing might be that the tailights might be textured making them harder to paint to match and the sport tailights have to be smooth so you can paint them

Thanks guys

And for the unasked headlight answer...
I was actually wondering that.
But I guess everyone does since Dodge opted to use defective plastic.

eBay, but I would not recommend the vendor I bought mine from (Racing Guys). Poor customer service. You can find the same lights from others for about the same price.
