Default Strange noise in 4WD

2nd gen 4x4 having trouble with the 4 wheel drive. engages and works fine but while making a turn while in 4 wheel drive i get a popping noise. took it to a 4 wheel drive center and they said it was the transfer case and that the chain was loose. any input?

if it only does it in 4wd i wouldnt worry. mine does it to, it just means your wheels are securely locked in to 4wd.

I have the same problem........ u joints are all fine on mine. I do have a small leak on my transfer case. Is there a transfer case that anyone recommends for a 95 ram as if i have to take it off anyways and repair it I would rather put a new one on that won't explode when I am in the woods. Thanks

I think we are entitled to a little more information then that. How about pinpointing the general are of the poping sound? transfer case and u-joint are pretty far apart so distinguishing noise shouldn't an issue so roll down your window. Also under what terrain are you turning in 4wd.

Is this an attempt at humor? Odd noises should never be ignored as they can be an indicator of impending breakage.
