95 Ram making weird front end noises??
My 95 Ram 2wd is making a ticking noise in the front consistent with the speed of the truck. I have jacked the truck up and spun the tires to see if I could hear anything, but nothing. Apparently there has to be weight on the front end. The truck also makes a whining sound up to about 55 mph. I don't know if these sounds are anything to worry about, but they are annoying to me. Any help on these is appreciated.
How's your front end alignment? Most common cause of the whining is tires wearing from incorrect alignment. The other thing that comes to mind would be worn wheel bearings, could be the cause of the clicking and whining. Is there any play in the unit wheel bearings when the truck is jacked up? Maybe bad ball joints causing excessive camber? I know my tires made a hell of a noise when the ball joints went. Trashed the tires real quick too.
Check your u-joints. Mine made a clicking noise when they went out. Someone on here said it sounds like you have a rock stuck in your tire, and that is it exactly.
I have run two different sets of tires on the truck and checked all of them and there are no rocks or anything that would make a clicking noise. The front end was aligned a couple years back and it drives straight and the tires are all worn evenly. If it is worn wheel bearing or ball joints am I hurting anything by driving the truck? It has been doing this for over a year now and the truck still drives the same except for the noises.
I didn't mean check your tires for rocks. When your u-joints go bad that is what it sounds like lol. Like Snafu said you have a 2WD-no u-joints. I don't know.
Will I do any damage to the truck by driving on bad bearings or ball joints?

sounds like a wheel bearing like mentioned above, jack up the front end and grab the wheel at the 6 and 12 oclock positions and see if there is any play (wiggle the tire). if there is any play, then you have a bad bearing.
Another thing I'd try just to make sure is get going to a speed where you can easily hear the noise and put your tranny into neutral. if the noise contiues then you know it's on a wheel.
