Default A Big Thank you!!!

Everyone,

After so many problems with my transmission I had finally resolved to buy a new one. I came to this forum to seek any advice when I discovered a similar problem someone had with their 98 dodge ram. I learned about my trouble codes that my reader was throwing out and I learned how to replace my output speed sensor with a very helpful diagram pulled from this forum. Long story short...I got my overdrive back. I am going to continue with putting in a new governor sensor and solenoid with the help from the pics on here.

Ya'll are a blessing. You truly are. You have no idea what it means to me that I don't have to buy a transmission afterall. In these economic hard times, it's refreshing to see a forum dedicated to fixing up trucks instead of buying new ones. Thanks so much.

Looks like I spoke too soon! While it will kick into overdrive with ease, now having trouble getting out of 1st and second. I may need to go ahead and do the governor sensor and solenoid. I bought them friday for 236.00. I really hope this fixes the problem.

Yeah, it's pretty easy to do with the search feature on here. When you google transmission problems with 98 dodge ram, it brings you right to a link on how to get help.
I always figured these forums were for people that wanted to talk about their trucks, not to be used as a chilton manual...but it is nice to read what people have done to their trucks with not so technical lingo.
J415, just tell me your email addy and I'll pay pal you so fast, your head will spin! I was just thinking about that when I logged on today about getting a rebuild kit and doing it myself.

As for the shifting problem, have you searched "transmission bands?" There are a lot of DIY's on it. I had problems with it missing 2nd gear, and adjusted the bands and now it shifts like a dream! Just an idea
