I put a RC 3" on my 99 and was able to fit 35 x 12.5 on 17" off road rims, it barely rubs at full lock

Poke around pavementsucks.com and you can see a bunch of different tire/wheel combos for Rams. The most common I've seen is a 5" lift with 35" tires.

Just get coil spacers for the front and either blocks or an AAL for the rear. It'll cost you under $150 if you shop around.

No you must lift and regear. You will need about a 5" lift and 4.56 gears but you may be able to get away with less. If you don't regear you will lose your power and fuel economy and your tranny will wear out quickly. If you don't have A LOT of automotive experience you will have to pay a shop to regear and it will cost at least $700.

Like sheriff suggested go to pavementsucks.com and search around. This lift tire combo has been covered hundreds of times over there.

The "little red wagon" is what inspired me to do my build. FYI if you listen he tells you he is running 35's with stock gears in the truck.

I am running a 2" Daystar coilspacer lift in the front I got 4 new shocks for about $250. I am running 35x12.5x17 Nitto Mud Grapplers without issue. I have a slight rub at full lock but as many will tell you that is because my tires have HUGE sidebitters for traction. My aftermarket rims are 4.5" backspacing but are 8.5 inches wide. I had no lift and 285's and just decided it wasn't big enough for me.

I will regear one day but I have a 5 speed so I can choose my gear and control my RPM while it isn't ideal I really don't have any issue that would FORCE me to regear right away. As many have said as well regear is very techinical with all the shims and backlash etc. I haven't decided if I will tackle this on my own, I have never done it but I also have never done an engine swap and I pulled that off.

Just wanted to share some personal experience I had. FYI my sig picture is with 285's and no lift

How much would these parts cost to regear and where would I find them? I got a buddy who knows how to do this stuff. So me and him would tackle it ourselfs.

you want a cheap lift get yourself some front coils from a newer 3500 cummins from a junkyard, you'll gain 4 inches up from and then put blocks or add a leaf in the rear. you'll be able to clear 35's no problem look at my truck

gerehead8.........who told you that 35's were max for 1/2 ton axles...

Pavementsucks.com, If you go larger than 35's and offroad you will break the small u-joints in the dana 44 which takes out the axle shafts. Also the wheel bearings and balljoints won't hold up long.
