Default Engine Troubles... 2000,1500,V8

I have a 2000 Ram 1500 with a 5.9L V8 gas and the motor is slipping, for lack of a better word. For instance if im driving down the road and decide to push it a little it tops out and starts to act like its shutting down at a high RPM. I've replaced plugs, wires (around a year ago, under 10,000 miles), distributor cap, rotor button, and coil. Im at a loss for answers and don't know what else to try. I can upload a video to youtube on request if you need a better idea of what it it doing. Any ideas are appreciated. Thanks.

The engine actually starts to die? Or it just doesn't "grab," like your engine's output isn't making it to the wheels? Right now, it sounds like a transmission problem. Check the fluid level and smell it. Remember that the truck must be running, in neutral(ebrake on), on a level surface.

+1 on thinking a possible tranny problem. and if its not all, the only other thing i could suggest is mabey you timing is out a bit and affects your higher rpm spark

Its like it isn't getting power to the wheels. It just crapps out like its misfiring when you try and call on it. The power just isn't there....

Do you have any check engine codes?

Is it misfiring or does it just feel weak but runs fine?

Also, whether it's the engine or not; you most likely have a plenum leak. You should look into fixing it.

common problems can be clogged catalytic converters that limit rpm.
also, weak fuel pumps causing the motor to starve for gas.
also, if you don't already know it, and haven't already fixed it, all these trucks have a leaking plenum gasket which is a big vac leak.

do you have an CEL codes ?
do you have any pinging when stand on the gas pedal ?
