Default I NEED A REAR Differential

Holy crap, the rear differential went in my 97 Dodge Ram 1500 4x4 . . . 9.25 and dodge is telling me 1800 bucks for the repair, anyone on hear know where to find one at a better price?

Junkyard, Craigslist, Ebay. Just match the gear ratio, and make sure it was from a truck not a van.

Edit: I am talking about swapping the rear axle, not the carrier.

Sorry, sold mine last year. If you're looking to just replace it try rockauto. Or now's the time to put in a posi or locker and get the carrier, locker and gears together.

i have one! but im in Texas.... +1 on the junkyard or craigslist, maybe look for a dana 60?

according to the stealership, I needed a new rear diff...$1500. I said hell no and walked away. Then I took it to another shop that specializes in differentials. The guy told me all I needed was to change out the pinion bearings. He showed me the old ones and they were shoot to hell. Go somewhere else!!!

Used part yards around here want $600 and there's plenty of them.I got lucky and found one for $200.It's been working well for 200k now.

You could go to 4wheelparts and get 4.56 with new carriers, ring and pinions for $1500
