Best sounding exhaust system for the money
Hey guys, I have a 2000 dodge ram 1500. I am currently looking for a good dual exhaust system for it. I was just wondering what you guys would recommend for a nice deep mean sound with out spending a pretty penny. Thanks
what is a pretty penny? just kidding if you are just wanting a good sounding exhaust for a decent price I know down here Midas will cut out your old system and put a single in dual out flowmaster 40 series for about $280 bucks. That is all prebent stuff. I also got a quote from one for a cherry bomb vortex with stainless pipe for $350. Again that is just a single in dual out type system.
My truck when I got they took the pipe after the cat and put a y in it, then they put 2 flowmaster 40 series single in, single out mufflers. It sounds real good to me. That would cost more though simply because of 2 mufflers.
Most bolt on style kits like you would get from summit or 4wheel parts tend to run around $500 but then you get brands like magnaflow, gibson etc.

i cut out the stock muffler and put in a flowsound, its a factory reject 40 series flowmaster, it even has flowmaster stamped on it, it was only $20! but since your looking for a dual im not much help,
Welcome to DF.
A custom setup (or semi-custom, prebent stuff) at a shop is the best way to go, IMO.
Do a search on Youtube for exhaust clips (make sure to include "dodge ram v8" or something along those lines) and find one you like. Copy what that person did, and there ya go.
I like my Flowmaster Super 44 for now. For around $300-ish, Meineke put in a high flow converter (Magnaflow) and was going to put in a Magnaflow muffler as well. However, they didn't have one in stock the size I needed, so instead they put in the Flowmaster. Very happy with it for now.

Could always go on ebay and buy a pre bent system from the cat back. They arent hard to put on.Just make sure they tell you what muffler you are getting.I ordered a flowmaster muffler and they sent me a knock off so I complained and now I have 2 mufflers for the price of one.Yay.
chop it at behind the cat.. ad a flowmaster 50 series dual out and hang some pipe... muffler will run $80-100 and pipe will run the same.. i just cut out the stock muffler and added a 50 series for $80... just kept the stock tail pipe.. i've also ran the 44 series dumped and it was too loud

....They are EXTREMELY deep sounding....
