I run 52 in the front and 48 in the rear (tires rated for 65), that makes the tread contact the ground evenly all the way across.

My tires are rated to 80psi.I think they are 10ply tires.I just had a plug put in my tire at a tire shop and when I ask how much for new tires I was told my truck needs 10ply because its a hd truck.

I run around 36 in front and 35 in rear... My tires are 80 psi max. I wonder if i should up my PSI? It rides great, i live on a really bad road that has craters and washout spots in all in it. It also gets really muddy when it rains. I have never got stuck. I wonder if it would ride too rough or loose traction if i uped the PSI alittle. I guess it wouldnt hurt to try while my road is not muddy.

The guy said that you need a 10 ply because your truck is capable of exceeding the maximum weight capacity of a load range d-8 ply tire. If you don't overload the tires then you can put an 8 ply tire on there and be fine.

You don't need 10 ply tires. I have E's on my 1500 and I don't need them.

Do you tow close to the max for your truck, if you told your tire guy that I could understand him saying that, but if not then he just wanted your money.
If you use your truck to tow a small trailer around then you will have no problem with a lower range tire, I have E load range tires on my truck because when my dad drove it he towed a boat and needed the extra weight capacity. But my next tires will be D load range because the biggest thing I tow is a 16 foot trailer full of atv/atc's.
And I'm surprized that the inside of your tires are not wearing crazy fast compared to the outside
