Default Body Swap?

I have a 97 1500 5.2L 5spd, which is a ex cab short bed. now i am wanting a cummins again very badly... but dont really have the money. so to save money i am wondering could i put my body onto a 95 reg cab long bed? thinking about it... the long bed is 2ft longer than mine but my cab is 2ft longer than a reg... so question is can i just bolt across my body? or even fabricate a little to make it work? any help thanks!

You would have a huge gap between the cab and the bed, the frame it self is longer not just the body. all mounting points would need to be changed and also you would have to move the rear axle forward to be able to use your standard bed on a long bed frame and then you would have to cut the rear of the frame because you could have atleast a foot of frame sticking out the back of the truck. fabbing bumper braket's etc etc so honestly it wouldnt be worth it.

the frames will confuse you easily. they look like they'll fit but it wont

It should with some shaving and a little bit of fab work. but why wouldnt you just use the cab that came with the 95 ?

Do some measuring on the truck, and see where your mounts are for the cab on yours and look at the one's on the 95 and go from there.
