Hey guys i know I have been bombarding everybody with threads but i just can't seem to find any threads about stock on here. Okay i just climbed under my truck to measure the stock muffler and it came out to be 34 inches. Could this be right because most of the aftermarket mufflers i have seen are around 20 inches. Do i have to connect new pipe to make up space for the shorter muffler or did i measure something wrong?

 

nope that sounds about right the factory dodge muffler is really long.

 

stock muffler is very big, generous, and quiet. so if you put on a short aftermarket, you'll need a piece of filler pipe.

 

So to put a new muffler on that is only say 20 inches i have to run extra pipe from both ends no?

 

can i clamp the filler pipe or does it have to be welded? i have no idea how to weld....

 

you can do it either way clamping it works just as good

 

Just run pipe out one end and attach the muffler to the other end. Yes you can clap it but it may leak a bit.

 

Haha im second guessing the diy muffler. Might just be worth my time and effort to have a shop do it.(don't trust myself)

 

Do you have a sawzall, a wrench, and common sense? You really can't mess anything up.

 

At worst you f*ck up and then you take it to the shop you cant do anything too bad
