Wouldn't it be easier to loosen the bolts holding the hinges to the door and adjust it that way?

That would mess up the lines for the back of the fender to front of the door.

^ +1 what he said, usually messing with the upper and lower alignment of a door will usually screw with the gap between the door an fender and if you dont know what you're doing you can do some pretty good damage to both.

correct me if im wrong but arnt the hinges welded to the door and the a pillar?
anyways no, when you go loosening bolts like that it throws all the adjustments out of wack, its better if its close like it is to adjust by bending then adjust the whole thing, the cheap metal used by auto makers for the last 20 yrs you can bend around like that

check your bushings, if you can pick up on the door and move it up and down without moving the truck you need bushings, ive never really ran into too many dodges that need them, but a chevy needs them about every 6-7 yrs, maybe your just lucky haha

They are not welded, and I'm talking about the bolts that go directly to the door. and aside from moving up and down they also move in and out. Only a slight adjustment there will move the top of the door closer or the bottom of the door out. And it wont mess up the lines if you hold the door up while doing it. A small adjustment there will be a bigger amount farther away.
