Default RAM 1500: 2" lift with longer shocks

Hi guys,

I am ready to mount 2" spacers at the front and 2,5" add-a-leafs at the rear.
Now i have read, that it is recommended to add some longer shocks, too.
By the way: a have already mount a skyjacker 3" Bodyliftkit on my RAM 1500.

Which shock types do you prefer ?
I want to mount nitro shocks, and i do no offroading with my truck.

What do you think about the skyjacker nitro shocks type N8017 ( rear ) and N8092 ( front ) ?

At summit racing i have also found these shocks:

Rancho RS5221.............( 0-3" )..eyelet/stud, twintube - front only
Trailmaster 72670..........( 2" ).....eyelet/stud, twintube - front
Trailmaster 72680..........( 2" ).....eyelet/eyelet, twintube - rear
Bilstein F4-BE5-6681-H6..( 3" )......? / ? monotube - front
Bilstein F4-BE5-6682-H5..( 0-1" )...? / ? monotube -rear
Bilstein F4-BE5-6647-H1..( 4" )......? / ? monotube - rear
ProComp Mx 6146...........( 3" ).....eyelet/stud, monotube - front only

What do you use ?

I couldn't tell the difference in the stock shocks, Gabriel HD's, or the Bilstein's. I've had all three on it. They are all stock lenth though.

With 5" total lift then you will want shocks designed for a 5" lift.

He said he has a body lift. You do NOT need longer shocks when using a body lift. Only suspension.

You should buy shocks for a 2-3 lift. Rough country's will be just fine. They cost me $120 for all four and black shock boots.

He has a 2" lift. The rest is body lift which has no effect on the suspension. Get shocks designed for a 2 in lift.

Hi guys,

i have changed my mind and want to buy Bilstein 5100 shocks now.
These items are high quality shock absorbers - exactly what i want.

I took a look at the Bilstein Catalog and found these part numbers:

RAM 1500 4WD 94-01:

front 3"......BE5-6681-H6
front 5-6"...BE5-6646-H6

rear 0-1"....BE5-6682-H5
rear 4".......BE5-6647-H1

At shockwarehouse.com i found these different numbers:
( .... but why ?? )

front 3".....BE5-6681-H8
rear 0-1"...BE5-6682-H8

Note:
Compression bump stop on chassis may need to be modified to prevent damage to the shock absorber.

There are no other shocks for a lifted RAM 1500 available.
No shocks for exactly 2" front and 2" rear.
What can i do ? Would you buy "the 3" front and 0-1" rear choice" ?
... and what about the note to the compression bump stop ??
Do i need longer bump stops now ? ( where to buy ? )

I am a little bit confused now.

when doing the body lift don't you have to worry about the steering. and it not reaching.
