Mine is alot different than the 2nd gen setups, the little hose is a vacuum line I believe. Heres what mine looks like all put together and yes I know it's very dirty don't hound me.
from the way it looks in th first pics down the throttle body, it appears to be pretty clean in there. i know the plenum is a very common issue, but there could be another problem here...

If thats not the issue I don't know where the oil is going then, I have looked over every inch of that motor and not found a single oil leak or even seepage.

Wow, I couldnt imagine runnin' a K&N filter in that dirty enviroment!!!
Oh, not this argument again. You know as well as I do that K&N's filter just as well as a paper or dry charge filter.

It's possible that you are literally burning the oil. A torched valve not running 100% the way it's supposed to or just simply wear and tear on the rings. How many miles are we talking about?
Now, I guess most if not all of you in this thread have forgotten that there is NO fool proof way to check to see if this gasket is leaking other than pulling the intake manifold off and taking a real look. Take mine for example, it was shiny and dry when I pulled it apart, but the northern section was caked where it had blown out. Just merely peering into the belly pan does not work 100% of the time.
M1 or Hughe's intake on a stock motor will work just fine, but I don't think you would see near what you think you would compared to a motor that has been built up.
Oh, welcome to second gen, and don't try to fool us into thinking you bought a 408 kit. We see through the junk quicker than them there 3rd genners do.
