Plenum Thoughts
Well, obviously I'm not a 2nd gen but my truck is basically a 2nd gen at heart. I've been goin through about a quart of oil a month with no visible leaks or puddles on the ground, I'm pretty sure it's the plenum thats bad. My question is what do you guys recommend, the Hughes replacement plenum pan or the Mopar M1 intake manifold? Heres some pics showing down inside the TB, tell me what ya think.

if money isn't an issue, get the M1, or the Hughes Air Gap.
If you want to fix it cheap(er) get the hughes plenum kit with bolts, and pick yourself up a Felpro plenum gasket for it. Most guys here don't like to use the thin gasket that hughes supplies with the plate.
I haven't done mine yet, but I need to, and will probably just go with the hughes plate

Yes you know make your own plueme plate but it didn't you would need a piece of alum plate and time and to me at the time I was making 20 dollars a hour and thought it I had more than 4 hours make it I wouldn't be worth it so
I bought one form Hughes for 86dollars that had with belly pan bolts
as fars as the m1 goes I would not do that unless you got sum engine work to back it up cam..ect. The m1 makes power in the upper power band and thses trucks as stock just can't handled it because the truck weights so much
if you want a new I take man get the airgap,,,, or do the kegger mod for free

Or make your own. Search up my threads.
The Hughes plate is just a cut piece of aluminum. Anybody can make it for less than $86.

Ok, so M1 = bad for stock motor if I understood that correctly. I eventually wanna bore it out to 408 but that will be a little while before I get the change to do that. I suck at fabrication so I'll prolly just buy the Hughes kit, and I'm lazy. lol
I went with the Hughes. I'd rather do it once, than try and make one and worry bout it sealing up or something. Also has to be a certain spec on the aluminum I do believe. Easier to just buy one! Most of us work and have families, so spending gobs of time trying to get one perfect and not have to redo it is worth the money I spent at Hughes. Yes, the hughes looks pretty plain, but its good stuff.
The plate itself is done. Now I just gotta put it on the truck. That should be done in a few weeks.
