98 Ram 3500 Won't start.. alarm?
Hey everyone!
I have a 98 Dodge Ram 3500, with an alarm problem? I've been ripping my hair out for days now and don't know what to do. Perhaps someone can help?
Here's the problem:
Went to start the truck the and the alarm starting going off. Wouldn't start at all. Horn continued to go off. Key fob locked and unlocked doors, but did not disable the alarm. I disconnected the battery for 2 days, went back to it and still no good. Checked all the fuses and relays. Still nothing. My only option is to tow it to a dealership and have them run a diagnostic and fix it. I don't have the money for that headache.
Any suggestions or help would be great!

mine did the same thing... (i had the viper security system in mine) this is what you do....disconnect the negative terminal, and have somene turn the key to the crank position, an while that person is holding the key in the crank position, drop the terminal on...this will bypass the alarm... its will spark so just drop i on as best you can without getting electricuted.
i was going to say use a screw driver.. lol that will bypass anything...
but yes, do like he said... if you dont feel comfy doing it his way.. use a pair of electrician ( cant spell) pliers,,, ya know the ones that have the rubber grips to them... it will still sprak, but it will be a solid contact and your hand is clear of the sparks...

Could also be a near dead battery?
Cause thats what mine did once.
Doors unlocked with FOB, but when I turned the key the alarm went off.
But my FOB would shut the alarm off, but then every time I would try to start it the alarm would go off again.
Just a thought...

Good luck,
Cheat.
Thank you all for your ideas and help so far. Unfortunately, still no luck. (As far as I know, I have a stock alarm system, it was in the vehicle when I bought it. I don't know if that makes a difference or not.) Anyway, I tried to crank the engine while the alarm was going off and nothing. I also tried to disable the alarm with the fob once the alarm starting going off and no luck there. I had someone cranking the engine while I re-connected the battery cable. It did crank once, for like a second, but no luck. I am unable to jump start the truck, because of where it is parked. But I have it hooked up to a charger and I am hoping for the best. If anyone has any other suggestions or ideas, it would be greatly appreciated! I'll let you guys know how the battery charging works out when I get a chance! *Fingers-crossed* Thanks again everyone!
