Ok i started today...Im starting with the wiring, and the burnt wires...i though it was only 2 wires, but i was wrong......i ripped out the battery box, took out the fuse box, and ripped all the tape off to find about 5 wires that are melted, and 2 of them go to my guage cluster, which i hope will fix my gas gauge, since everything else works...Ill be posting som pics of the wires tonight...looks like spaghetti under my hood right now, the whole harness and wires are separated and spread apart....going to replace the wires now...i hope to god this fixes my gas gauge, if not, at least i can relax a little and not worry about any fires....

ive got quite a few pictures to post of the electrical fix i just did...i re-taped off the entire harness, so i dont have to worry when i go off-roading anymore...

Unfortunatly it did not fix the gas gauge, but for some reason theres better throttle response? i havnt driven it for over a week, and i took it out tonight after the electrical fix...it ran excellent, started first crank...

Also i let it run for over an hour just idleing. Now I have hot *** air lol...before it blew out luke warm, now its blowing out HOT air! Im excited, i dont know if the idleing burped it because i dont have a gurgle anymore...I have no leaks, coolant is still full from when i filled it doing my plenum over 5K ago.

ill get the pics up tomorrow morning, i just came inside and its 11:53...(well i went for a little ride, thats why im so late) i have to wake up at 5am to bring my fiancee to work...blah....ill have pics tomorrow morning

i got to figure out whats going on with my gas gauge stopped working correctly last month, for whatever reason when you push the gas it will drop down below empty, if you're sitting at a redlight idling it will rise up to whatever amount of gas you have in the tank.

mine is stuck on full. Ive actually taken out te cluster, pushed the needle to empty, and when i start it, it shoots back to the full mark...so i think my sending unit is damaged.

Also i noticed i dont have the rubbery sound when braking anymore....what i think happened was one of the wires went to the abs, and only one wheel had the abs working, and one wheel was locking up, and one wasnt....is that possible? becuse the electrical fix did fix a few things, but im not sure exacally what...theres no rubbery sound, and theres better throttle response....there were 5 total wires that were burnt, and broke apart...all the other wires are clean, and no wear

Were you able to track the burnt wires back to the panel that way you could tell what they went to ? As far as you abs acting up id say it's possible. anything is possible when you're talking about wiring man. I hate it with a passion

im fairly good with wiring, it doesnt bother me....but they were all grounds, and i traced them all the way up the harness to where they all were fused into one wire....(up near the drivers firewall) where they fused together the wire was still good, and nothing wasburnt passed that....one of the ground went down to the front bumper, one went on the brake master cylinder, and i dont know where the other 3 went for they werent burnt to far down the harness, so when the wire got clean again, i spliced from there

You ought to strip that fender with a flap wheel on a grinder and hit it with some spray paint. and tuck that taped wire bundle into some convolute (the plastic wire wrap) so the tape won't look bad if it starts to peel off.

I hit my passenger fender in the engine and between the fender and the firewall with some flat black a while back because I was grinding some rust off the brush guard and I had the paint out anyway.

Wow what a day.

Got the front end ripped apart today.

Both wheel bearings came out without a slide hammer, (i warenteed the wheel bearing i put in 3 months ago, so i have 2 brand new Timkins going in at the same time.) all my bolts cracked with ease with my 3/4in breaker bar. I have the axle shafts out, CAD, and shaft out, all i have to do is knock out the seals. The carrier is unbolted, i just need to pry it out. It is pitch black out,so i called t a night. This is such a fun job IMO. But ive never done something like this so its fun for me, because mechanics is my passion, and im learning something new.

Ill post pics tomorrow.

Also when i went to autozone to get some brake clean and gear oil, i was offered a job!! The general manager knows me by name, and she told me to fill out an app online, and talk to her tomorrow morning for a job. All of the people at AZ know me, so its pretty cool, and ill be getting discounts on my part, which they already did for me...when i bought all my front end parts they gave me 15% discount which saved me like 45 bucks....hopefully i get the job tomorrow!
