Default Rear Light Issues, Need Help Now.

I have a 1994 Ram 1500 4x4. I am also new to Dodge. Here is my issue. When my lights are turned on and I hit the brakes the 3rd Brake light comes on but the tag lights and the taillights go out. With the lights turned on and I turn the flashers on all the lights in the rear flash. Also with the lights turned on and on the brakes the turn signals stop working. Now problem number 2. Without the lights on and on the brakes and turning both taillights and tag lights flash. When not on the brakes the turn signals work fine and when using turn signals the brake lights work fine. I have replaced the head light switch, brake light switch and turn signal switch. Has anyone heard of this problem? Could it be a body ground gone bad? I desperatly need help with this and I know if it goes to the shop it is going to be an expensive fix. Please help, thank you

I have checked all the sockets in the rear and they all look clean. Could it be the main socket for each set of lights.

erm, what year is your truck?

Check the wiring in the steering column. Most of that goes thru the 'multi-function' switch. (turn signal switch)

I had same problem ....if you got to rear of truck on drivers side theres a connector with four wires it looked good but the ground was corroded...looked good but was making no contact for wire...i touched it and the wire was broke already...then i cut the wire and spliced it to other side of connector and problem solved....gotta have a sharp eye to find your bad wire but i bet a 99.9999% chance its a ground somewhere

Typical of a ground loss. For those wanting a technical explanation, the ground is missing on part of the circuit (one or more bulbs) and the others are "backfeeding" throught the other bulbs. You have to find which one(s) are not grounding properly.
