Man this truck has issues. My headlights quit working. all other lights work, including signals. brights will come on but you have to hold the switch back, it won't "lock in" Put in new 9007's still nothing. Any ideas. Fuse checks out.

multifunction switch on steering column is bad.
i got a replacement at autozone for about $45, but that was 3 years ago.
on my 01 i needed a set of "security torx" (hollow) to remove that switch, also from autozone in a set for $10.

Default i

wondered that. I just replaced it about 3 weeks ago. I still have the stock switch which was good. I just replaced the unit thinking the wiper part of it wasn't working. I will do that tommorow.

there is a procedure in the service manual and haynes manual to test the switch. if you had wiper problems you can prove your stock one good or bad with that test.

Yup, do what zman17 says. There's been 4 switches in my 95. The factory lasted a long time(200+k). The replacments are not so good, although the last one has been a good one. I could tell the plug has been hot, the plastic is a little distorted, but still works. It's a bad design, the switch is to close to the heat duct.

i understood his problem to be low beam/high beam selector, not on/off. but yeah, headlight on/off is a common failure also.
