Default Towing Light Adapter, Any SUggestions?

Hey guys, I just bought my first little bass boat, and it is wired with a flat 4 wire adaper on the trailer.... I looked under the truck and it has a little round plug under there? It is a 1998 Ram 1500, 3.9 V6 Longbed.... does anyone know what adapter I need to get this thing to work... thanks a ton!

how many sockets in your round plug? 4 or 5 or 6 ?
if you have a nice 5 or 6 wire factory plug, you can get an adapter.

if you just have a cheapo 4 pin round, and you have nothing else with that style, then cut it off and put on a 4 pin flat.

dhvaughan is correct. Walk into any parts store, they should have the adapter you need (that is, if its the factory round plug).

Hi I found my clip and it looks like 2 prongs inside the round adapter? Its right behind the bumper so I figured its the trailer adapter? I have a picture but for some reason I cant figure out how to upload it on here, I will try again... Is this my trailer light adapter, or do I even have one??? Thanks again Guys!

the best way to post pictures is create an account on photobucket or similar and upload them there. then cut/paste the IMG code here. it look something like this, without the spaces.

so your little round plug has how many holes? 4 or 5 or 6 ?
see pictures half way down this page. http://www.etrailer.com/faq-wiring.aspx

i love the color pattern for trailer lights. invented by a very practical person, obviously not an engineer -
green for the grass on the right side of the road (right turn/brake)
yellow for the line on your left (left turn/brake).
brown for the color of your drawers (tail light).
white for the snow on the ground (ground).

that doesn't look like a trailer plug. it looks more like a light socket for tag light, or auxillary backup or something.

it looks like one of the two tag illumination lights. one on each side of the tag, embedded in the bumper.

you need one of these. you can probably get it at walmart or any auto parts store or order online. it plugs into your tail light wiring on each side.
