Hey talon, did the hughes air gap have the provision for the IAT sensor? I've seen seen some of those where the boss is in the cast but is not drilled and tapped. Post pics and an update!!

no spot for the iat. i have a k&n fipk so i am gonna have to drill and tap it. the plastic is pretty thick on the tube so i think it will work out ok. it says that if you have a stock set up, just cut a small x in the tube and insert it.

i also had to go to the parts store and get a plug for one of the holes in the front of the intake. the hole is near the thermostat housing. just went and picked it up this morning.

the fuel injectors were a real pain to get pushed into the new intake. had to push super hard, thought i was gonna break one, or rip one of the o rings, even with grease on them.

just about 90% done with the install. gonna get it finished up today. its a probably about a 8hr install. if you take your time and try to do everything just right.i donnt consider this a beginner project.

no blown plenum just like i thought. i will update after i get it done and take it for a few spins. it says in the directions that it takes a little bit for the computer to learn the new intake.which i figured. kinda like the 1.7's take a few miles too.

Make doubly sure you have the injector seated fully. There should be none or just a tiny bit of blue showing.

I didn't have mine seated tight enough when I first installed mine and damn near started a fire when the injectors fired and blew the rail off.

well all done. here's my first thoughts. i only drove it for about 15miles or so. when i first started it up the idle seemed a little rough. so i just let it sit there and idel for a little while.(15 min or so). shut it off and started it back up and it was idleing alot better. took it for a little spin and it didnt seem to be any low end loss. maybe just a little gain. now from about 2500 to about 3000rpms you could really tell a difference. the truck was pulling alot harder. well, thats my first thoughts on it. i can only figure it will get better as the computer learns it.

do i think it was worth 628$ shipped to my house? donnt think so. it needs to be a couple hundred less. but i think it will really help compliment my future mods.(cam, heads, and maybe supercharger). and i donnt have to worry about a blown plenum gasket now.

now my next mod is gonna be a custom tune from hemifever.(sct) gonna be a couple weeks though. gotta get my boy a winch for his truck. i have two projects going on at the same time.lol i switch back and forth. buy something for his then something for mine.

after i get the sct i will give my comparison on tuners too. i have had the jet chip, hypertech max energy, now the superchip 3815, and sct is in my future.

i should, but he is only 16 and plays baseball 9 months a year.3 different teams. and has a pretty good chance of getting a scholarship for pitching. no big school or anything, but anything will help. so i really donnt want him to quit playing and get a job.
