Default Performance Chip question

I was wondering what the best performance chip is out there, but kind of cheap. I was looking at an SLR chip. It says that you can get another 50 horsepower and 6+ mpg. Is it for real? Or is it just a waste of money?

Don't get a chip,, the pcm will re-learn.

Get a programmer.

Most here say SCT is the best.

I have a superchips 3815, and it is worth the money.

LMAO! Do a search on here for "plenum gasket" first.

Most of the ads for these chips will say "Up to 50 Horsepower". That way if it increases horsepower at all they can say it performed as advertised.
Most of these "chips" at least for our trucks are realy resistors that go in the IAT line in parallel to lie to the computer and say that the air is cooler than it realy os so the copnmuter will increase the fuel charge. Do some research on the internet and I think you'll decide not to use it or at least understand what it realy is.

I too have a Superchip. It's a great investment, but yes the SCT seems to be the best since it allows custom programs if you ever do other upgrades later. But make sure your plenum problem is fixed and you use the correct fuel grade because of possible pinging.

i run the 87 superchips for a little more umph because i'm way too cheap to pay for premium gas.

if you've never fixed your plenum, you need to do that first, or it'll ping like crazy.

i've run the superchips and the hypertech and like the superchips better. superchips will install to all years 98-current, while a hypertech is very year specific, which is a pita.
