Default Metal shavings in cooling system. Need to worry?

To make a long story short, I snapped the back left bolt, holding the hose on top of the thermostat. I had to drill it out and re-tap it with a 3/8". In the course of doing so, I accidently drilled threw the bolt housing thingy (technical term) and got metal shavings down in there. I got most out with a magnet, but being the worry some wart I am, I would like to know if there is any cause for concern, because I know I didn't get them all out. The worst that I know of happening, is they end up in the radiator. What you guys say? Thanks!

you can do an engine flush to try an get them out, but as far as damaging anything it wouldnt hurt your engine, only thing it might do is make nicks inside your radiator hoses when it tracks back through that part of the system, and most likely will end up in the thermostat

Sounds good. I won't worry about it at the moment. I've had a heck of time getting it back together. I broke the bolt off putting the hose thing back on, and then tried a bolt extractor and that broke off. I had to dremel out the broken bolt extractor with diamond tips, and then proceed to drill it out. It has a brand new thermostat on it at the moment, and so if anything goes awry, I'll check that first, and proceed to flush the system out. Word of advice--if the bolt doesn't go in smoothly, don't force it! Man, I learned that the hard way (but I'm sure most of you guys already know that).

stay away from the RED DEX fluid for GM. its incompatible with GREEN.

Most of the antifreeze offered in parts stores is now a "universal" fluid. its costs about $1 per gallon more than the old green fluid. i just buy this stuff now.
