BFG backorder, need tire recommendation
Ok, I am really annoyed. I am changing the stock plain 16" steel rims on my '99 to a set of the Off-Road 17" rims from an '01 Off-Road Ram. I was planning to put BF Goodrich All-Terrain T/A KO with RWL in a 285/70/17. I have come to find out that these are on a nationwide backorder, and that it could be months until any are availabe in my area. Only size available today is a 315.
So, since I am changing my tires in the next few weeks, what are some other suggestions for good tires. I want something aggressive looking, but not to noisey on the highway (probably no mudders). Should be able to handle a load too.
Please include pics if you can.
Thanks.

Really? Why did you hate them?
My father-in-law had a set of the BFG's, and when they were worn, he switched to something else, and he tells me he wishes he had the BFG's back again. He said they lasted longer then just about any tire he has tried. His tires are for farm and ranch use mostly.
I really like the way they look, and have heard generally that they have good longevity.

yeah, they did last a long time, but there was not enough wet pavement grip for me... I slid into two intersections because all 4 tires locked up and the abs was useless. The Open County tire I've had on a Jeep GC I had and loved it. So far on the ram, I love them as well. havent been on the trails yet (just got them Monday) since my truck is in pieces now but I expect in Mid may to be up in the Sierra's camping so It'll be a good test for them. (they worked really well on the jeep up there.)
I know BFG are very popular but everytime I see a 4x4 that has been lifted and has BFG's on them I laugh. I remember my best friend with his jeep slipping and sliding all over the mud and dirt cause they are more geared for street. My baja claws tore - mickey thompsons - him a new *** when it came to traction. I was happy to see bfg has some mickey thompson like tires now with sidebiters. The baja claws are semi loud on the road but I havent found a nicer tire for my needs yet. Plus - Anybody can have BFGs - I perfer getting away from the -Attack-of-the-clone tires.

good luck
good luck
zeekxxx, those are sweet, but they look like they would be really loud compared to a more traditional on/off road tire.
These tires from Cooper don't look to bad.

I have a set of 265's BF's on my Ram-nice ride and so far good wear-not exactly sure of the price but keep eyes open the tire market is very fluxuating-i see up to 50.00 off per tire in some ads...and also Steve I had these tires on this winter and in 12 inches of snow i didnt have to engage 4x4 while drive-try hitting the brake before you get into the intersection...lol...just kiddin
