A buddy of mine did this to his s-10 a long time ago.We screwed a bench seat down to the bed and mounted some seatbelts to the floor.Cut out the back side of the cab and mounted a cap with no side windows and tinted the back window dark.We found some rubber weatherstripping to seal the cab and cap.Never had any problems.

I don't understand. What do you mean by "never had any problems"? I'm looking at it from a legal standpoint, not to mention a passenger safety point. By your logic, I can build a submarine with screen doors and "never have any problems" until I put it under water. You won't have any problems with bolting your seats in the back until you get T-boned by another car or truck and your "bolted down bench seat" goes air born. Honestly, your playing with fire. Those seats would need to be D.O.T. approved. Just because you can do it doesn't mean you should. Long story short, BUY A DURANGO!!!

Lots of things are illegal.Lots of things are dangerous.Walking across a street can be dangerous.Getting out of bed and having a heart attack by the exertion can be dangerous. You want safe, live in a bunker and hide from the world.I'm not telling him to do it but just pointing others have done it.Honestly, you can be sued if someone is gonna ride in your car and slams their hand in the door.Legality is the rich mans way of keeping the poor man down.Thats why most politicians are lawyers.Thats why most politicians are rich.

Look half of the vehicles on this forum are in some way illegal, I know my truck is not legal and have never pulled over or ticketed

It would be kinda hard to put seats in the bed under a topper though you have to worry about sealing it to the truck, and its kinda hard to do this with body flex between cab and bed, are you cutting the cab at all, taking out the back window or just trying to give your backseat riders some cover.
